Review

This collection is strongly reminiscent of a high school year book: some fine writing lurks amidst the doggerel. By placing the name and thumbnail biographical sketch at the top of the page, before the writing, the editor has stressed the names rather than the writings. The names should emerge on their own if the writing warrants it.

No doubt the book is representative of what Island women are writing (or any women, for that matter); however, it seems detrimental to serious writers to bury their work among the nondescript offerings of dilettantes.
