Review

Published to commemorate its 25th anniversary, this attractive book is a
year-by-year account of the struggles and triumphs of the Quinte Ballet
School of Belleville, Ontario. Under the artistic directorship of former
National Ballet of Canada dancer Brian Scott, the school has managed to
train professional ballet dancers to a high standard for a quarter of a
century. Other well-known dancers associated with the school as honorary
patrons and sometime advisers are Karen Kain and Annette av Paul.

Considering the backstage reality of grant cuts and the other
difficulties typically associated with running a professional-level
dance school, this 25th anniversary is a real achievement.
