Review

Stargate is a fantasy of classic dimensions. Pauline Gedge has devised a mystic universe consisting of many systems interconnected through great Gates, which after uncounted eons of peace finds itself under siege by a great power. The World-maker, the original creator, has turned on his own creations and is bent on destroying them one by one. As each system in turn succumbs to decay, its great Gate is forever sealed, condemning the survivors, if any, to isolation and death. As Stargate opens, only four systems remain; and the engrossing story tells of the tremendous battle of the last sun-lords to save themselves and their threatened worlds. Those who enjoy fantasy on the grandest of scales cannot fail to be impressed by a magnificent feat of imagination.
