Review

The front cover of this book is stamped “Warning! This Book May Be Harmful to Adults.” But that’s only those with weak hearts. For mothers, teachers, youth leaders, or others faced with the problems of decorating for Hallowe’en, or planning a party, or getting kids interested in making things, this book is ideal. Older kids can proceed on their own.

We start with making slimy horrors by mixing flour, oil, and food coloring, to mould into horrid slimy things like slugs, or horrid jewellery. Then we go on to masks, spiders, bats, skeletons, and a life-size zombie. All these wonders are made with ordinary materials found around any house, like garbage bags, old newspapers, scissors, glue, perhaps paint. Some of the projects might make quite a mess.

The horror food section uses real food in unusual ways to produce snakes, freaky biscuits, and cheese straw spiders.

It all looks like a lot of fun.
