Review

Words to the Wise puts the biblical book of Proverbs into easily understandable English for even a casual reader. It promises to be a bestseller for this reason alone in Christian circles, but it is also a good resource book for the avid biblical scholar. It divides the chapters of Proverbs into 89 subject categories (such as adultery, anger, and temper) and tells what the Holy Scriptures have to say on these and other things faced in daily living. The topical index is cross-referenced under different subjects, so that Words to the Wise can be read in small sections and at a leisurely pace. It is not meant to replace the Bible but helps clarify the often confusing texts in the Book of Proverbs.
