Review

While slightly misnamed, Teach Us to Pray is a good introduction to the purposes, structures, and art of Christian prayer.

Instead of teaching the reader how to pray, the author has directed his book to the questioning Christian who may be unsure of the relationship between him/herself and God. Using the Lord’s Prayer as an example, he shows how prayer, by its nature and its practice, confirms and strengthens the human/God bond.

Within the Christian tradition, Judson Levy discusses faith, expectations, and answers to prayer and the role of prayer in human life. The book is an excellent beginning for all levels of reader from the searching teenager on; the author’s style and vocabulary are straightforward and very readable.
