Review

This book is a very personal recounting of a minister’s search for a Christian perspective of death. By relating his own history, Lloyd Brown makes it clear that he was at one time deeply disturbed by the thoughts and reality of death. Yet his terminology (“passed over,” “gone home”) indicates his frames of reference: death is merely one part of a Christian’s life.

Calling on the experiences of others (unfortunately not well documented) as well, he recounts some out-of-body experiences and post-death visits by spirits. His final section, Implications, contains several nuggets of Christian belief; for example “…it would be helpful for us to recognize that you and I are already living in eternity. When we die we do not then suddenly enter eternity” (p.34).

With straightforward vocabulary and an easy-to-read style, the book is a non-threatening way to begin to examine one’s own particular belief within Christianity.
