Review

There are some superb photographs in this volume and their colour quality is of a very high standard indeed. The brief historical introduction, however, leaves something to be desired, with too many basic factual errors and too much telescoping of unfolding historical events. It seems that the harshness of the Atlantic environment has not received its pictorial due and the almost Arcadian pastoral side has been significantly distorted. Nevertheless, this book should have a wide audience, largely because of its attractive price and its fine coloured photographs.
