Glenn Gould: Music & Mind

Dean Tudor is a journalism professor at the Ryerson Polytechnical
Institute and founding editor of the CBRA.

Reviewed in CBRA 1978 (entry 2108) and reprinted in 1982, this monograph is now available in paperback. But the only new material here is the three-page “Afterword,” dated August 21, 1983, and commenting on Gould’s death. Even the discography of Gould’s recordings only goes up to 1977, and it is the same as in the 1978 book. The author missed a chance to update it, and has thereby done the reader a disservice, since there have been many issues and reissues of Gould material since 1977.
