Review

When the time comes that one needs a lawyer, two conflicting impulses
are set in motion: a desire to hire the best, and worries about cost.
Dancing with Lawyers tells readers how to negotiate this impasse. Other
topics include finding the right lawyer, questions before the first
appointment, relative advantages of big and small firms, when the meter
starts running, jargon and key phrases, and how to prevent overcharging.
The detailed table of contents compensates for the lack of index.

The author, who is not a lawyer, blends witty cynicism with common
sense and good humor. His book won’t solve your legal problems, but it
will give you a flying start.
