Review

For those planning to visit Wells Gray Park (north-east of Kamloops) in
British Columbia, this is an indispensable guide. Part 1 summarizes the
park’s natural history; Part 2 is a road log of the Clearwater valley;
Part 3 describes the lakes in the park; Part 4 focuses on the park in
winter. Good trail maps are provided for all the hikes, and, though the
book is not a field guide, there are excellent descriptions of the
park’s plant, bird, and mammal life.

The book’s layout and design are first-rate, as is its information.
The authors acknowledge the many knowledgeable contributors who helped
in the revision of the Nature Wells Gray 1989 edition or gave technical
or material support. All of this has improved the guidebook, making it
richer, more accurate, and more insightful. Highly recommended.
