Review
This otherwise wonderful reference tool was out of date before it
appeared in print. Published in parallel English- and French-language
columns, it provides pictures, biographical data, and addresses
(including fax and telephone numbers) of Canada’s senators and members
of Parliament elected in 1993 and subsequent by-elections. It also
provides 1993 election returns constituency by constituency,
constituency boundaries at that time, and by-election results for those
(including Sheila Copps) who have faced the voters since 1993.
Unfortunately, some of those 1993 MPs retired or went down to defeat in
1997. Neither the 1997 election returns nor information on members first
elected in 1997 is available.
What this means is that the handbook is useful only to historians and
those seeking information on senators and MPs elected in 1993 and
subsequent by-elections. Those wanting information on MPs first elected
in 1997 will have to wait.
