Review

The Canadian Architectural Archive is a major, though underrecognized,
underutilized, and underfunded, resource. The Canadian Archival
Inventory Series, which is produced by CAA library staff and draws
heavily on the materials in the archive, is designed to ease the work of
scholars and to further our understanding of Canadian architecture.

Volume 3 of the series focuses on the architectural firm Rule Wynn and
Rule. Although the firm seems to have had little influence on the
overall course of Canadian architecture, it was influential in the
creation of Alberta’s built environment and it did produce some
innovative projects. This very useful cerlox-bound index catalogues the
architectural drawings documenting the projects produced by the firm’s
Edmonton office.
