Review

The winner of numerous awards for his Who Goes to the Park (Tundra, 1984), author-illustrator Warabe Aska has achieved a comparable success with his latest work. Set in Vancouver’s Stanley Park, Who Hides in the Park is a fitting tribute to the largest and, unquestionably, one of the most beautiful urban parks in Canada.

Sixteen full-colour paintings are included, with accompanying text in English, French, and Japanese. Information about the illustrated landmarks and attractions appears on a separate page. The paintings are dreamy and mysterious, haunted by the memory of the Salish Indians who once inhabited the area. Well written and evocative, Who Hides in the Park is suitable for ages 6 and up.
