Review

This little memoir covers the author’s life in the fiber arts. She tells about being addicted to the touch of wools from an early age, and she provides anecdotes about others with the same addiction. Though short, the book is occasionally charming, particularly when the author draws on her experience teaching weaving to the visually impaired. (One result of this experience was her invention of “freehand,” a frame system that holds the loom, quilt, embroidery, etc., and allows the craftsperson to have both hands free for working.)

Slight, but of interest to those involved in crafts, and perhaps particularly to those who teach crafts.
