Review

Michael Schwartzentruber suffers from cystic fibrosis. In From Crisis to New Creation he chronicles his life-long struggle with a disease that usually kills early. Now in his mid-twenties, he is left to wonder how much time is left to him, to agonize oven the deaths of his fellow cystic fibrosis victims, and to try to maintain hope and energy in the face of such despairing odds.

Ultimately, he concludes that “Suffering is an integral part of loving,” and his dependency on friends and community has brought him to a better understanding of his relationship to God.
