Review

The Debt-Free Graduate, a revised and updated version of the 1996
edition, offers prospective postsecondary students financial advice
relating to virtually every aspect of the postsecondary experience. The
author provides guidance on such matters as banking, insurance, credit
cards, income tax, housing options (on and off campus), furnishing and
decorating, grocery shopping and meal preparation, travel,
entertainment, and shopping for clothing, books, and general educational
supplies (including computers). Baker also offers advice on the first
few years following graduation, a period when careful planning and
spending are still critical. His book, which is detailed enough to be
genuinely useful, promotes the message that life can and should be lived
fully, even on limited means.
