Review

This volume focuses on the lighter side of of British Columbia’s
history. Never heard of a “hasty-come-stick,” a “Wobbley,” or a
“fenango”? You will learn about them here. In response to the
question “Where can you find a miniskirt?” you will learn about a
mountain named Miniskirt. The tone of the book is established by the
first question: “Where is British Columbia located?”; answer:
“Somewhere in the middle of a sea of envy.”

The material in the book has been selected for its entertainment value
rather than for its historical significance. It appears to be presented
in no particular order. The index primarily lists the names of people,
places, organizations, and events, so if you want to look up that
reference to “fenangos,” you will not find it in the index.

Wild, Wacky, Wonderful British Columbia would be good gift book for
anyone interested in British Columbia history. Also recommended for
public libraries, particularly those in British Columbia.
