All About Canadian Attractions: Prince Edward Island National Park

This latest set in The All About Series consists of 14 books linked by a
common theme—Canadian attractions from the Atlantic to the Pacific to
the Arctic oceans. Each book is formatted to resemble a stack of
postcards sent from a special Canadian place. On one side of the
postcard is an eye-catching photograph. On the other side is text that
describes the attraction’s history, geography, wildlife, major human
activity, and points of interest in short simple sentences. The text is
designed for emerging readers, and each book includes a glossary and an
index for further reference.

For example, The Bay of Fundy tells young readers all about the valley
“that became part of the Atlantic Ocean about 6000 years ago,” the
first people who lived in the area (Mi’kmaq and
Maliseet-Passamaquoddy), and its dinosaur fossils, among other things.
In Casa Loma, readers learn about the castle’s owner, Sir Henry
Pellatt, its secret passageways and underground tunnels, and its
military museum.

Outstanding photography and clear, pithy prose makes this series a
terrific new acquisition for any young reader’s library or for those
planning to visit the sites. Highly recommended.
