Review
Crafty kids are sure to enjoy these two latest Kids Can Do It books.
Like other books in the series, they provide excellent information and
easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions that are enhanced by clear
illustrations.
Projects may be kid-friendly, but they aren’t so simple as to bore
those wanting to move beyond basic skills. For example, in Quick Knits,
readers learn how to make a scarf, but they are also given instructions
for building on these skills to move on to create purses, cell phone
cases, pillows, and other projects that begin with a simple square or
rectangular shape. More adventurous knitters are encouraged to create
hats, slippers, and even a simple sweater.
Knotting works much the same way, starting with the basics before
moving on to simple projects. Skills mastered in completing the simple
projects are further developed for more complex creations, such as a
guitar strap, rope swing, dog leash, basketball net, and sports bag.
Thanks to a wide range of projects incorporating an ever-expanding
skill level, readers will find much in both books to spark creative
imaginations. Recommended.
