Review

John Gordon has produced an excellent introduction to the sport of golf,
with plenty of information and advice for beginning golfers and young
players. The backcover sums up the book nicely, “Golf has a long and
fascinating history. Inside you’ll discover its origins, the rules of
the game, the kind of equipment you need and how to putt like a pro.
You’ll also meet the stars of the game—past, present and future! ...
Technique, strategy and focus are all it takes to be a winning
player.”

The book is written in an upbeat tone, features humorous chapter
titles, and offers skill tips. The text covers the game’s many rules
and ends with golf trivia, great moments in golf, and a glossary. Crisp
color photographs and illustrations both complement and clarify the
text. Highly recommended.
