Review

While on a day out with her mother, a little girl meets and befriends a
dragon. They play together on the beach, and then the little girl
invites the dragon home for tea. During the meal, pepper gets into the
dragon’s nose—with disastrous results. He sneezes and accidentally
sets fire to the tablecloth and curtains. The little girl knows exactly
what to do: she guides the dragon safely outside while her mother goes
to a neighbor’s house to call the fire department.

This clever rhyming story is effective in conveying the rules of fire
safety to children. Colorful illustrations clearly depict the correct
responses to an emergency situation. At the back of the book is an
easy-to-learn safety rhyme and a fire safety checklist for parents and
teachers to discuss with their children. This excellent book should be
in every home and school library. Highly recommended.
