Review

This is an amusing picture book about a family whose problems begin when
their refrigerator breaks down. After several attempts at contacting a
repairman, they finally engage Jonathan Knorps & Co. It soon emerges
that Mr. Knorps is not a competent repairman. The family patiently puts
up with his antics.

Preschoolers and primary school children will laugh at the numerous
silly outcomes as Mr. Knorps tries desperately to repair the family’s
home appliances. Two glaring exceptions aside, the illustrations match
the text well. Their pastel colors invest the story with an appropriate
warmth. Apart from a weak and confused beginning, the story is humorous
and children will enjoy it. Recommended.
