No Clothes

Lore Hoar is an information consultant living in Calgary.

No Clothes is the story of a nine-year-old boy’s journey home after
the disappearance of his clothes—which, having been carelessly left at
the seaside while he went skinny-dipping, are washed away by the tide.
Simon’s predicament requires all his courage; he must travel across
town without any clothes. He makes his way from bush to culvert to tree,
thinking no one has seen him. But each maneuver results in another call
to the police station. With speed and resourcefulness, Simon continues
to home in on his destination as the authorities converge on him.

The narrative style of this story is lively and quick. There are many
expressions and expletives that lend themselves well to reading aloud.
The pace is brisk. Each incident adds to the mounting tension of the
plot, which leads to a satisfying conclusion. The unconventional story
line would appeal to all ages.

Carlos Friere’s illustrations are whimsical but accurate. Their
animated depiction of the action suites the narration well.
