Review

Allison introduces herself at the beginning of this book and takes the
reader on a journey through her day. With her house and garden serving
as backdrop, she expresses her actions and emotions by comparing herself
to various creatures. When she is angry, she roars like a lion; and when
she’s afraid, she hides like a mouse. She swims like a fish and sneaks
up on her sister, sliding along the grass like a snake.

The book’s colorful and animated illustrations clearly communicate
what Allison is doing and feeling. Each animal Allison is shown
portraying is depicted on the facing page in clothing similar to that
worn by Allison; the integration of characters is thus made clear to
young readers, who will learn from this delightful book how to express
their emotions in positive and creative ways. Highly recommended.
