Review
In Funland, the Bungalo boys ride the Space Quester through black holes,
make an unscheduled spacewalk, deploy the Bungle Arm, experiment with
centrifugal force, and finally make a “flawless three-point landing”
in the Swan Pond.
John Bianchi’s offbeat humor and technical jargon will appeal to
would-be space travelers. His cartoonlike drawings encourage reluctant
readers and those who enjoy becoming familiar with technical terms such
as “atmospheric re-entry,” “G-force,” “apogee,” and
“flight log.”
A fun and adventurous tale for 5- to 8-year-olds with an interest in
space travel. The publisher offers a reading club program for librarians
and teachers, complete with a newsletter, membership cards, and an
autographed Bungalo book in a class kit of 25. Recommended.
