Review

These two interactive and visually appealing books will appeal to
children who are interested in exploring the outdoors via the camping
experience. Summer Camp looks at the daily routine of camp, from
preparation to new friends to saying goodbye. Positive personal
interactions, whether with counselors or cabin mates, are stressed as
campers explore a wide range of activities, from the traditional
overnight to the more exotic circus performance. A Canoe Trip is a
practical and informative treatment of what a camper needs to know about
all aspects of a canoe outing. Linking the activities undertaken on the
trip are the themes of personal safety and environmental sensitivity.
Parents, children, and camp personnel would benefit from both books.
Recommended.
