Review

Like the other cookbooks in Crabtree’s Kid Power series, these volumes
offer simple step-by-step recipes that preteens can follow with little
or no adult supervision. Both books start off with a brief chapter on
kitchen safety and basic cooking terms. The majority of each book is
devoted to recipes that feature an ingredient list, easy-to-follow
instructions, and lots of bright colour photographs of children
preparing the particular dish.

Delicious Desserts features healthy and tasty treats like Baked Apples,
Fruity Ice Pops, Chocolate Macaroons, Best-Ever Ice Cream,
Apple-Raspberry Cloud, Fruit Custard, Chocolate-Covered Fruit, Jumping
Jellied Fruit, Honey and Nut Treats, Sweet Potato Pie, and Berry
Brыlée.

Multicultural Meals features foods from around the world. Recipes
include Vegetable Curry, Pita Toppers, Mediterranean Meatballs, Greek
Salad, Bocconcini Salad, Bagels and Lox, Spinach Quiche, Thai Coconut
Soup and Noodles, Chinese Lemon Chicken, Mexican Fajitas, and Japanese
Tofu Steaks.

A glossary is included in each book. Although most of these dishes can
be created without adult supervision, preparing them together presents a
great opportunity for multi-generational family fun. Highly recommended.
