Pushers are dying like flies on Vancouver’s streets. Is there a
pattern to the deaths? They are clearly murders (all the victims were
found naked, with needles poking out of their bodies). But why were they
killed? Homicide detectives Jack Willows and Claire Parker set to work
to solve the mystery. Their search leads them through the mean streets
of the city’s heart and finally to their aging nemesis, mobster capo
Jake Cappalleti.

Shutterbug is Gough’s 11th Willows and Parker mystery. As usual, the
cops’ relationship is personal as well as professional. Willows is now
divorced and free to marry his beautiful partner. But first things
first. The string of murders is getting longer, with each new case more
gruesome than the one before. No surprise that the storyline grabs the
reader by the throat and gives it a squeeze: Gough has long been a
master of the crime genre. He takes a kidnapped shoplifter, a crazed
biker, and the biker’s somewhat dipsy girlfriend and invests them with
his trademark skill and humor. Shutterbug is well worth your time.
