Review

Stephen Eaton Hume takes his readers back in time to the American War of Independence. Ben Franklin, sailing around in a hot air balloon, lands unexpectedly near St. Francis of Assisi Home for Foundlings in Quebec City and is rescued by a young group of orphans. Led by Michael Flynn, who is deaf, White Rat and Madeline help Ben Franklin to repair his ship and escape capture.

This book is an easy read filled with adventure and suspense. Readers join in the adventure and easily find themselves rooting for the young orphans. Hume has taken a historic hero and breathed new life into the story by showing a side of Ben Franklin few would have known about.

A must-read. Highly recommended.
