Review

Nuclear bombs, biological warfare, Middle Eastern fanatics, American
military leaders, and intrepid secret agents are among the ingredients
of this fast-paced novel of international intrigue. It concerns the
vengeance sought by a dying Australian scientist, the victim of weapons
testing. His scheme sets off a chain reaction of events that are
revealed through a dizzying series of subplots and counterstrikes. With
its staccato prose and rapid scene changes, Field of Thunder often reads
like a screenplay—a satisfying feature that reinforces the story’s
breathless pace.
