Review

Some T-shirts offered by big outdoor suppliers for fishers bear these
slogans: “I fish, therefore I lie”; “[l]ate to bed, early to rise,
fish all day, make up lies.” This collection of more than 30 Canadian
fishing stories certainly attests to the T-shirt slogans. There are tall
tales and small tales; stories of the one that got away and the one that
didn’t. One favorite is that of the ice-fishing Finlander who swam
under the ice from his hut to surprise his neighbors down the lake.

The stories are pretty much all entertaining. They come from all over
the country, and involve many different species of fish. The authors are
obviously hooked on fishing and are not above stretching the truth to
get a laugh.
