Review

Thinking About God is the latest work by author and creative writing teaching John Buell, whose intent is to encourage the reader to reflect upon God in relation to one’s own personal beliefs, faith, and interactions with the divine.

The book is divided into eight chapters, with the first examining God in connection to science, atheism, and our belief or disbelief. Later chapters touch on such topics as the mind, human creativity and ingenuity, spirit, and the origins of the universe. The overall feel of the book is one of a dialogue between Buell and the reader. Nevertheless, while several interesting points are raised in support of the existence of God, some booklovers may be put off by the lack of a definitive argument or thesis linking the chapters to a final conclusion.

Still, Thinking about God is an easy read and has some insightful thoughts upon which the reader may ponder.
