Review

“Every night at bedtime, Henry and his father have a little chat,” begins the story. Henry wants to know about when he was “small.” His father proceeds to tell him different scenarios about when he was small, for example, “when you were small you wore a thimble for a hat.” At the end, Henry wonders if all these hysterical adventures are true. “Don’t you remember?” his father replies.

This father/son bedtime story plays on the word small, a concept that youngsters deal with everyday. Simply written and dealing with the nuances of language, the book empowers children by allowing them a difficult concept. Children will find the images of Henry as small as an ant, a piece in a game of chess, etc., very humorous and endearing. Highly recommended.
