Review

The Creative Voice by Kelowna artist and educator Gary Pearson presents
a panoramic view of the arts in the Okanagan region of British Columbia.
The book comprises 35 transcripts of the author’s interviews with
regional artists, including local sculptors, musicians, writers,
photographers, potters, and performers. Each of the interviews is
presented in an accessible question-and-answer format and each is
sandwiched between a brief introduction by the author and a biographical
summary. The comprehensiveness of the book necessarily precludes an
in-depth treatment of any single artist. Nevertheless, the author and
his publisher are to be congratulated for providing a record of the
cultural diversity of one of British Columbia’s most popular regions.
