Review

This excellent guide to bed-and-breakfast accommodations in Québec
includes sections on country-style dining, farm excursions (day trips),
and farm stays (accommodation, dining, and farm activities). Each
establishment is illustrated by a small line drawing and many
architecturally distinctive buildings are illustrated with color
photographs.

The 609 bed and breakfasts are arranged by tourist region and listed
alphabetically by name in the index. Numerous maps assist the traveler
in making selections within a given geographic area. Each entry includes
rates, a description, road directions, name(s) of owner(s), address,
telephone number (and fax number, e-mail, and Web site address if
available), language(s) spoken, and specific features such as
nonsmoking, wheelchair access, bath and toilet facilities, as well as
various services and recreational activities in the locality.

Basic information is given for each of 25 country-style dining
establishments as well as distinctive characteristics such as home-grown
vegetables and wild game, prices, and season(s) of operation. Sample
menus are provided in the original French. Other information about the
farm establishments, types of animals on the farm, and available
activities are also included. All facilities have been inspected by the
Fédération des Agricotours and users of the guide are invited to
complete an evaluation form. Although the information presented is
voluminous, the table of contents, introductory pages, maps, and index
allow the user to identify the required information without difficulty.
