Review

This guidebook to Ottawa and the surrounding area of Gatineau and
Merrickville, Perth, and Lanark County features excellent color
illustrations and graceful descriptions (written by local residents) of
Ottawa’s special attractions, including Parliament Hill, Byward
Market, the National Gallery, and the Museum of Civilization. The
description of the Central Experimental Farm is the one of the best
sections. For jaunts outside Ottawa, there are featured items on the
Rideau Canal, Rockcliffe, Sandy Hill, the Gatineau, and Lanark County,
as well as the towns of Manotick, Burritts Rapids, and Merrickville. The
maps (many of which are in color) are well executed and there is a
comprehensive index. Recommended for both travelers and public
libraries.
