Paper Nights

Jean Free, a library consultant, is a retired public-school teacher and
librarian in Whitby, Ontario.

Pikolo loves making paper cutouts to decorate his room because he is
afraid of the dark. One day he makes a little man named Max, who takes
him through the closet to tunnels, where he dances with other children,
animals, and sea creatures. At dawn Pikolo sadly leaves for his own bed.

Based on Gilles Tibo’s idea, Paper Nights is told by Pierre Filion.
The warm, happy illustrations are done with colored ink and airbrushing.
The fluid, creative full-size pictures will delight young readers again
and again. This would be a comforting book for preschoolers who are
afraid of the dark. The creativity of award-winning illustrator Tibo
could stimulate older children to produce artistic paper sculpture.

This gentle story is filled with the joyous delight of exploration and
wonder—a perfect bedtime story for 2- to 6-year-olds.
