Review

Award-winning author and illustrator Gilles Tibo has produced another
attractive book for young children.

Mr. Clark, the keeper of the Periwinkle Zoo, is about to begin his
annual summer holiday by going to the beach, as is his custom. But this
year, as he bids farewell to several of the animals, who are also going
on vacation, he wonders about varying his routine. Although he nearly
misses his train, he does arrive at his usual destination. While
relaxing on the beach he receives an unbelievable surprise: many of his
animal friends, who have been travelling far and wide, come to visit
him. What a celebration they have . . . before the accident.

This delightful story is filled with action and emotions. Another
important attribute is its appeal to the imagination, stimulated by both
the story line and the illustrations. The reader is soon introduced to
the animals, who have unusual but appropriate names. The detailed,
colorful pictures enrich the story and will stimulate a lot of
discussion among children.
