Review

This retelling of the Cinderella story is imaginative and humorous. The
author, who illustrates her own work, portrays the story’s characters
as penguins, giving the fairy tale an original twist.

The full-color illustrations are definite and bold, and show many
details that enhance the story. A young child will be intrigued with the
number of unusual penguin touches he or she can recognize. For example,
the fancy-dress ball illustration covers two pages and shows penguins as
Egyptians, wild animals, nursery-rhyme characters, clowns, and a ghost.
These amusing pictures will challenge a young reader.

The hardcover book is sturdy and well bound. Children aged 5 to 8 who
fortunate enough to own this story will choose it again and again.
