Review

Fans of Robert Munsch will delight in this latest offering, Get Me
Another One!—fish, that is. Those who have heard Munsch tell his tales
will hear his voice here as he describes the fishing boat Kristi and her
father are in, bobbing up and down more and more vigorously as the sea
becomes more and more choppy. Predictably, Kristi gets seasick and
throws up over the side of the boat—primary children will love this
part!—falling overboard in the process. The slapstick adventures that
follow—wherein Kristi’s Dad discovers and decides to capitalize on
her unique ability to catch fish, and, as a result, ends up all wet
himself—will bring choruses of “Read it again, please!”, for this
is truly a book to be shared aloud.

Parents, teachers, and librarians on the lookout for stories with
strong central female characters will be particularly pleased with
Kristi and her mother as role models. Adding to the humor and enjoyment
of the story are illustrations of the small fishing village, Rocky
Harbour, by Shawn Steffler, who, we are told, resides in Cornerbrook,
Newfoundland. Highly recommended.
