Review

What’s better than finding a frog? Why, keeping him, of course, and
thinking of a good home for him—which is exactly what happens to the
boy in this story. No one in his family wants a frog in the house.
“Get rid of him” is the sentiment of the day.

Our hero thinks about his problem and comes up with the perfect
solution. He asks his dog, Rover, to share his home with Jim, the frog.
The boy, dog, and frog spend happy times together, playing with toy
animals, pails of water, ropes and balls, flags, fishing poles, tubs,
and boats.

The delightful story, told in rhyme, has very little text, but each
sentence is the basis for an intriguing illustration. Full-color
pictures advance the story. They are large, attractive, and detailed;
just right for a small child to look at, over and over, while an adult
reads the rhyming text. The book is also fun for beginners wishing to
read on their own.

Highly recommended for the young at heart, from 3 to 93.
