Review

This craft book is a must purchase for libraries. First, it fills a
major gap in collections, being the only book of its kind covering the
making of these popular, trendy bracelets. Its appeal covers a wide
readership, from seven-year-olds to teenagers. Young readers, even those
with well-developed motor skills, will require some adult assistance.
For older readers the clear instructions (accompanied by numbered
diagrams) will aid them in creating bracelets of many designs, from
simple to more complicated.

Gryski (alias the “string lady” because of her highly successful
craft books, including Cat’s Cradle, Owl’s Eyes, and Super String
Games) adheres to her belief that creative craftwork needs easy
instructions and helpful illustrations. A “leftie” herself, she
includes much-welcomed instructions for left-handed readers. Even if
mistakes are made she offers simple solutions. Also included are
instructions for making earrings, hair ties, and key chains. A creative
book for creative hands.
