Review

Based on the popular television series “Road to Avonlea,” these
paperbacks closely follow the plots of series segments. The spirited
young heroines, Sara and Felicity, and their bemused elders, are worthy
descendants of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s original Anne of Green Gables
and her other Avonlea stories. Malcolm and the Baby finds newlyweds Aunt
Abigail and Uncle Malcolm embroiled with the fortunes of an orphaned
baby left on their doorstep by the meddlesome Sara and Felicity. The
Hope Chest of Arabella King is a classic story of lost treasure. Both
stories are set in turn-of-the-century Prince Edward Island. Written for
readers approximately ages 9-12, and illustrated with black-and-white
stills taken from the television series.
