Review
This is the story of a family of eight (nine including the dog) who win
a trip for two on a tropical cruise. While trying to solve the problem
of how the family can all enjoy the prize, the nine are ejected from a
plane and land on a deserted tropical island, where they encounter and
defeat a band of pirates. Finally, the cruise ship rescues the family.
Although the story line is exciting, it is related in a choppy way. The
dialogue lacked the fluidity of a truly excellent storybook. But Travels
for Two is impressively presented: the illustrations captivated me.
Colors, detail, textures, even typography have been carefully chosen for
maximum effect. Despite its textual shortcomings, this book would
delight a young child.
