Review

While having lunch at a table on the farm, a child sees a bug on her
knee. She telephones her friend, the frog, to come to lunch and get the
insect off her knee. Away flies the bug, but the frog stays.

In turn, she phones a snake, a rat, a cat, a dog, and finally, a bear.
Imaginative illustrations are in full color and each detailed picture
clearly shows that the creature on the knee escapes to make room for the
next guest.

A real plus for this happy tale is the music score printed on the
book’s last page. Every episode can be sung to this tune;
nursery-school teachers, especially, will welcome the melody as a way to
encourage a group of children to participate in the storytelling.

For beginning readers, there is easy repetition to help with the text.
This book will delight a child as young as two years as well as those
age six or seven.
