Review

Jennifer collects neighborhood junk and stores it in her bedroom until
her parents protest. She then moves it and herself into the back yard,
where she stockpiles more junk rather than give up collecting discards.
She is convinced that some day there will be a use for all her junk.
Sure enough, a spaceship crash-lands in Jennifer’s yard; its pilot,
who turns out to be the captain from Jennifer’s favorite TV show,
requires her help to fix the ship. She uses every piece of her junk-pile
to make the spaceship functional again. As thanks, the captain returns
with a gift of the seediest piece of junk he could find in space so that
Jennifer can start a new junk-pile.

This book certainly makes a point about the value of recycling. It is
also an entertaining and well-illustrated story for children.
