Review

“The sun is a dragon’s eye. Clouds / are a dragon’s breath. Waves
/ are the scales on a dragon’s back.” Thus beings this explanation
of what it would be like for two children to sail on a sea that is
actually a dragon. His breath is their wind; his sneeze, a squall, his
anger, a storm; and so on. The analogy is an interesting one. The text
has a certain rhythm, but the framed illustrations are drawn in what I
assume to be a deliberately childlike style with what appears to be
felt-tip markers. The overall package is at best mediocre. Not a first
choice.
