Review

These books, part of a series on natural history, should appeal to and
stimulate readers from about nine through fourteen years of age.
(Children in this group, however, may have problems with the imperial
units used throughout; this lapse is really inexcusable in Canada now.)
The illustrations, mostly super photographs and some good washes and
pen-and-ink sketches, are combined with clear, readable, and informative
text. However, a list of suggested further readings would have been a
useful addition to each book. The $18.95 (plus gst) price for 64 pages
seems excessive and may deter many prospective purchasers.
