Review

Time becomes mixed up when Marianne travels back in time and tries to
glimpse the future. She is invaded by “The Entity” when she steps
into an empty storage closet at school. She and The Entity inside her
are shot at before boarding a train from Montreal in 1880, are swallowed
by a dragon, experience an earthquake in Tunisia, and survive other
near-fatal situations.

This novel’s unusual subject matter will appeal to readers who like
to explore other dimensions. Regrettably, occasional typographical
errors mar an otherwise presentable text.

Originally published in French as Temps perdu, in 1984, it was selected
by the Canada Council as one of the four best books in the children’s
literature category. Author Montpetit won the Governor General’s
Literary Award for children’s literature in 1989.
